Paddy’s interview with Adam Clayton of U2
On iLike.com, Adam Clayton of U2 had a chance to chat with fellow Irishman, Paddy Casey to find out what life was like during the recording of ‘Addicted to Company’.
Adam: how did the Dublin recording go with Producer Pat Donne?
Paddy: Well me and Pat have been working together for years, and we have this system where I work all night, and leave a big mess of a recording. Then he would go in to the studio, clean it up and make it sound half way like a song..
Adam: How was the LA experience with Producer George Drakoulias (known for his work with Tom Petty, The Black Crowes, Rhett Miller, Jayhawks, Screaming Trees and Tift Merit)?
Paddy: It was cool. George is a good guy to be around, he’s a big music fan, so I was introduce to artists I never would have heard of. He hooked us up with some great session players, people who have played on some tracks that I love..
Adam: What’s the track “Addicted to Company” about?
Paddy: Addicted to Comapany is just like saying..its ok just to be with people and maybe that’s all there really is to life…and the rest is just extra..
Adam: What are some of your favourite local Irish musicians?
Paddy: I love Peter Moore.. he plays a dirty Telecaster the way it should be played…there is loads of musicians with great songs..I reckon if u picked everyone’s 1 or 2 best songs you’d have one of the best albums ever..from the likes of Sinead Martin, Damien Dempsey, Glen Hansard, Pat Barret, Dermot Barret, Alice Djago, Terry Sutton..its a big list,I’ll leave it there..
Adam: What do you miss the most about Ireland when you are away on tour?….
Paddy: sleep, my dog and daughter Saoirse…
