Reeve Carney, who will be Peter Parker in the already notorious (David Dye just had to lead with the $50 million price tag), in-rehersal Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark by Julie Taymor, Bono & The Edge, didn’t say anything all that new about Spider-Man, but I’m guessing many U2 fans are still in the get-to-know-you phase with Carney (and might still be in denial that this musical is actually, probably, going to happen).

They play a few songs for the interview, the last of which is “Testify” and comes at about the 18:00 mark. It was the first time I had heard this one.  Wow. What a great 7+ minutes of blistering rock ‘n’ roll. Some classic rock influences jump out right away (Zepplin and Hendrix) but the more the guitar took over on this version the more I was hearing the Edge from the mid-1980s, somewhere between the UF album and “Bullet The Blue Sky.” I listened around on-line for other versions and came to prefer this one they did in the studio for World Cafe.

Rumor: Bono to write for Pixar?

Bono personally funded the antiretroviral drugs for Agnes and a group of women in her village of Kampala, Uganda back in 2002. It was that first meeting with Agnes that inspired him to go on and form the ONE organization. He also invited Agnes to go on the Heart of America Tour because he wanted  Americans to see a real face of AIDS in Africa.

As Agnes and the ladies got healthier from their treatments, they formed the Mulago Positive Women’s Network. They opened a small store in Kampala and began selling beautifully crafted jewelry, statues, dolls, handbags, greeting cards and many other items. It is important to note that 100 percent of all profits of the items sold go directly to the  MPWN. It is used for AIDS education and treatments, vaccines and mosquito nets for protection against malaria for the children, and even school books and supplies. It is their goal to help the families in their village and the surrounding areas stay healthy and get out of poverty through education.

Last year, the ladies of the MPWN honored their dear friend Bono by making a beaded bracelet with his name on it. Many of our forum members purchased them and are excited to wear them when they attend their next concert. A new batch was received from Africa and are now available. The cost is $10.00 with all proceeds going to help the women and their families. Please contact

I don’t know how the Omnibus legal team feels about it, but like I said … I’m kinda flattered that someone would even think something like this would sell.

As a true diehard U2 fan, Matt knows exactly what U2 fans want and U2 Diary is sure to become an important staple in every fan’s collection. Promising to be packed with tons of information that fans are itching to commit to memory, U2 Diary sounds like it will hit the spot! Can’t wait!!
